The Esther Mobley is reporting via the SF Chron this week with some details about the sale of Toronado to Orion Parrott that things are not progressing well. Not much of a surprise considering the response seen from the die hard Toronado fans (myself included). From the SF Chron article:
“Could a member of the tech elite really steward a famously nonconformist institution like Toronado? I met him there last Friday afternoon to learn more — and discovered that the question of who will be Toronado’s next owner is still uncertain. By the end of the afternoon, Toronado bartenders would be yelling expletives at Parrott. They’d be screaming at a Chronicle photographer to leave the bar. And Toronado owner Dave Keene would be calling me in a panic, repeating over and over “I own the Toronado! He does not!””
So even when it seemed as though a originally rough path forward was smoothed over it now appears that Toronado owner Dave Keene is looking to get out of the signed contract with Parrott due to breach of that contract (which Orion Parrot denies) and moving on with one of the two other bids received. This is already a long process, but this is likely to drag on for many more months now.
