Magnolia Brewing in the Haight Reopens Under New Owners

Openings Magnolia Brewing - Haight

After a quick build out and update but a slow ABC license transfer, Magnolia Brewing has reopened at the original location on the corner of Haight and Masonic as of December 5rd.

New owners Kevin Kynoch (Fly Bar, Fish Bowl) and Brandon Philips (formerly 21st Amendment) have updated the interior, leaning more on high top tables, artifacts of the location and brewing history of San Francisco. Gone are the glaring bright lighting and communal table of previous versions of the space.

The menu and bar program have also been greatly updated. The menu now focuses on smaller bites while the bar program leans more on cocktails and a full bar as the brewing program gears back up over the coming weeks. See images below for the current menu.

Plans are to continue to expand the house made beer selection while still offering beers from other local breweries along with local wine, house made sodas, and a house made hop water on tap.

The key for Magnolia Brewing going into next year will be the unique balance it needs to maintain to bring in tourists during the day while being inviting to the regulars and locals in the evening. Considering the owners are veterans of neighborhood bars in The City I think they will figure these issues out.

It’s good to see Magnolia back on its feet. This 4th generation of Magnolia Brewery is a breath of fresh air for the corner and this location has a ton of potential. I think the new Magnolia is a perfect fit.
